Main window - Options tab

Options tab allows you to set up SIGuardian. Settings on this tab:

  • "Check at startup and exit" - SIGuardian will check your HDD's only at system startup. If there is no change in attribute values, SIGuardian finishes. If any attribute is changed, SIGuardian displays a message box and asks do you want to see the info about this HDD.

  • "Common options to all hard drives" - SIGuardian will use common settings for all HDD's in your system. These settings include: control of enabling S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, S.M.A.R.T. poll interval and e-mail to send reports. You can set them globally (common) for all drives or individually for each HDD.

  • "Enable S.M.A.R.T. monitoring" - if you disable this mode, SIGuardian will not check this HDD (or all HDD's) for S.M.A.R.T. attribute info.

  • Mode of operation - Standard or Advanced - Standard mode is [good for most people. In this mode SIGuardian shows T.E.C., attribute value, threshold and speed of change. And under the "General" tab you don't see info about supported modes of operation. In advanced mode it additionally shows the Worst and Raw values of attribute. Under the "General" tab you'll see all supported speed modes of operation of HDD.

  • "S.M.A.R.T. poll period" - interval of HDD S.M.A.R.T. info polling - how often SIGuardian will poll your HDD's for changes in S.M.A.R.T. attributes if working in the background.

  • "E-mail report to" - enter e-mail to which SIGuardian sends reports. You should not see any message boxes in this case. Warning! SIGuardian uses your default mail client to send e-mails! So check e-mail settings to make sure it will work properly!

You can disable monitoring of individual S.M.A.R.T. attributes. To do this, select your hard disk in the left pane of the "Options" tab. You'll see a list of its S.M.A.R.T. attributes on the right. Just uncheck the attributes you don't want to monitor with SIGuardian and press "Save" to save the settings. Now you will not be informed about these attribute changes.
